Valentines Day Party - Thursday February 14

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. We are again inviting all 4th graders
to create their own Valentine card collection box to be used in the classroom.
The box should be the size of a rectangular tissue box or a shoe box with a
slot/opening large enough for an index card to pass through.  This has been an
enjoyable component of our Valentine’s celebration in the past and we are looking
forward to seeing some creative boxes!

As a homeroom class, we will be having a contest to see whose boxes best fit the
five contest categories:

Best use of recycled materials
Most creative use of hearts
Best animal design
Most colorful
Most edible box (think of what edible Valentine’s candy/food can you use to decorate
your box )

As you create/decorate your box, try to be as creative as possible, keeping in mind
which category you are trying to win.  You may use any materials that you choose –
challenge yourself to find new uses for materials you already have around the house.
Have fun!

We will vote on Thursday, the 14th, prior to the party.
We ask that the boxes do not contain student names and that they be brought to school
in a paper or plastic bag that cannot be seen through.  We want to keep the owners’
identities a secret until after the voting has taken place.
